SAN FRANCISCO – Kim Petras brought her Feed the Beast Tour to Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Sunday, celebrating Halloweekend with a bang and getting recognized by Mayor London Breed’s office with a proclamation for her work in the trans and LGBTQ communities. Petras is the first openly transgender artist to win a Grammy.

Her first headlining tour since 2019 supports her two latest albums, Feed The Beast and Problematique. Both records revolve around love and unleashing her true self, and she presented both themes at the show.

Petras made her entrance from a sarcophagus or iron-maiden-like device that was delivered to the stage during the title track to the former album before swiftly moving on to “Personal Hell,” keeping up with the devilish themes and imagery.

During “King of Hearts” and “Revelations” she showed off her impressive vocals. The entire show was carefully choreographed, with Petras oftentimes being accompanied by three dancers, and during this segment they surrounded her, posed and slowly walked around around her while holding hands.

“Looks like I’m fucked!” Petras gleefully yelled as the stage started to glow red, flames appeared on the screen behind her and the music transitioned to her Sam Smith collab, “Unholy.”

She strutted down a set of steps, accompanied by a dancer dressed as a devil. At times she waved around a handkerchief at him, as if egging him on. The performance was energetic and intense, sticking to an underworld theme. It didn’t stay there much longer, though.

As the visuals morphed to glitchy computer code, “Slut Pop” blasted out of the speakers, starting a new segment of the show that focused on the 2022 EP of the same name. Kim Petras performed parts of all seven of its songs, in order. The dancers came out in suits and carried suitcases. Then for “Treat Me Like A Slut” and “XXX,” Petras switched from business casual attire to a lingerie look.

Everyone on stage pretended to take a puff of a cigarette during “Treat Me Like a Ho” (from September’s Problematique) and the Eiffel Tower appeared on the screen, at times morphing to an animated version of Petras. Then, switching back to Feed the Beast, Petras took to a small small circular part of the stage that spun for “Claws,” on which her singing shined.

Petras encouraged attendees to yell the “Woo-Ah!” part back at her.

“Oh my God, who’s that hot guy on screen?” Petras yelled as her male alter ego, “Hans,” appeared, and she began to slowly sing fan favorite “Hillside Boys.”

Pausing to allow attendees to sing back to her, Petras sat on a circular bed and harmonized with her fans, before continuing the tempo with “Something About You.” On “Hit It From The Back” and “BAIT,” the music turned rock-centric and gritty.

The next segment of the show focused on Kim Petras’ Halloween-focused TURN OFF THE LIGHT mixtapes. She performed a whopping five tracks: “Turn Off The Light,” “Wrong Turn,” “There Will Be Blood,” “<demons>,” “In The Next Life” and “Everybody Dies.” The outfits and visuals turned black, tapping into the spooky vibes.

Moving on to a wintery theme, she kicked into Feed the Beast‘s “brr” and, from 2019 EP Clarity, “Icy.”

“I love dressing up too; all the outfits!” Petras said. “I wish I could stay for a million minutes.”

Kim Petras finished up the main set on a more subdued note with Feed the Beast tracks “Minute” and “Castle In The Sky,” before returning for a three-song encore of “Alone 2.0,” “Problematique” and “Heart To Heart.”

Toward the end of the encore, Victor Ruiz-Cornejo, a policy advisor in San Francisco Mayor London Breed’s office, walked onstage in a strapping outfit and presented her with an official proclamation announcing Oct. 29 as “Kim Petras Day in San Francisco” for her efforts to help the trans movement through her work.

“We are here today not just for this incredible show, and to give you some good looks, but because San Francisco is a city that does things first,” he said. “We are a city that leads the way … we recognize the value of living our values and fighting for our values, and today we want to be the first city to honor another trailblazer in our LGBTQ community.”

Artist and DJ Alex Chapman opened the show with a nearly hour-long set that turned the auditorium into a dance club as he spun mixes of hits by Madonna, Beyonce, Paramore and a couple of Petras tracks.
