The B-52s to headline Mosswood Meltdown in July
Dance rockers The B-52s will headline annual Oakland summer punk music festival Mosswood Meltdown in July.
The two-day celebration of alternative music and culture will return to Mosswood Park on July 6 and 7, producer Total Trash Productions has announced. Additionally, ticket sales began on Feb. 1 at the festival’s website.
The full lineup includes Bounce queen Big Freedia, rock band Redd Kross, punk rockers Pure Hell playing their first West Coast show in 30 years, Gibby Haynes and the Paul Green Rock Academy performing songs by the Butthole Surfers, and regulars like the Bay Area’s Hunx & His Punx. John Waters returns as host and emcee, and this year’s Mosswood Meltdown will include a drag contest hosted by Peaches Christ, with Waters as one of the judges.
“Itʼs musical mayhem time for multiple maniacs in Oakland once again, and Iʼm proud to be hosting from the gutter for the 10th time! Mosswood Meltdown; our days to shine in the punk grime,” Waters said in a written statement.
Tickets range in price from $139 for general admission and $399 for VIP, the latter of which comes with VIP seating, special merch and in-and-out privileges.
Le Tigre, Bikini Kill and Kim Gordon have headlined Mosswood Meltdown the previous two years. The B-52s embarked on a finale tour in 2023, after which they announced an ongoing residency in Las Vegas.
