May’s Sol Blume festival canceled, 2025 version moving to August

Less than two weeks before an expanded three-day Sol Blume soul and hip-hop music festival was to kick off its run at Discovery Park in Sacramento, organizers ENT Legends pulled the plug, citing weather for the second consecutive year.

“Due to significant site damage and growing safety concerns, we will not be able to host this year’s festival, the festival’s website reads.

Last spring’s Sol Blume was postponed from the spring to late summer due to storm damage and flooding from winter storms. The cause for this year’s cancelation was not made clear, although according to the festival, flooding was not the cause.

“Unlike last year, the path to hold a successful reschedule in the same year is not as clear despite our best efforts,” the website reads, before announcing the festival is rescheduled to Aug. 15 to 17, 2025—when the thermostat in Sacramento routinely rises above 100.

“Sol Blume is permanently transitioning seasons to rid us of any weather related conflicts in the future,” according to the website.

SZA, Snoh Aalegra and Kaytraminé (Kaytranada and Aminé) were slated to headline the festival—which had expanded from two to three days—from May 3 to 5. Unlike in 2023, organizers did not make any statements about trying to return much of the existing original lineup. The lineup was scrubbed from the website on Sunday. Despite the heat, the 2023 event, headlined by Kehlani and Brent Faiyaz, seemed to go off without a hitch.

For ticket holders who wish to hang on to their tickets for the 2025 event, general admission tickets will be upgraded to “GA+” tickets, GA+ tickets will be upgraded to VIP, and VIP ticket holders will be upgraded to “Returnable VIP passes,” and will include receive a $100 voucher that can be applied to Sol Blume merch OR or food and beverage vendors. The decision between which time of voucher will need to be made starting on April 22, via an email sent to ticket holders.

Those wishing to get refunds for their tickets will have until May 17 of this year to do so. The refund window will open at 12 p.m. on Monday, also via an email to ticket holders. Refunds will be processed after May 17. For Returnable VIP ticket holders, the refund window will be extended to Aug. 12, 2025.
