Metallica performs at Chase Center in San Francisco on Dec. 17, 2021.

Metallica on Thursday announced that its M72 World Tour will continue into a third year, with 21 shows in North America starting in April and running through June. Included are two shows at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on June 20 and 22.

Most of the shows will take place in pairs, with the band performing different sets and with different openers each night. However, several cities include just one show, such as Syracuse, N.Y., Blacksburg, Va. and Charlotte, N.C. There are also several festival dates in the mix, including Sick New World in Las Vegas.

Two-show tickets and tickets for individual shows will go on sale Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. local time. Fan club pre-sales begin Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. local time. The band is again offering VIP experiences and travel packages. Citi and Verizon will each have pre-sales for customers that begin on Sept. 24.

The M72 tour began in April 2023, and the band has performed to 3 million people. It supports 2023 album 72 Seasons. The band has teased it also plans to add New Zealand and Australia dates next year.

The 2025 North America openers include Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies and Ice Nine Kills. A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to local charities via the band’s All Within My Hands Foundation. See the announced tour routing below.
