25 local groups will play for 7 hours in 14th annual SF Music Day
Twenty-five local jazz, classical, baroque and ethnic music groups will perform at the 14th annual SF Music Day at the War Memorial Veterans Building on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco on March 20. The event, produced by InterMusic SF, is a free event featuring artists performing on several stages for seven consecutive hours.
The event celebrates the past, present and future of Bay Area music with diverse performances. The lineup includes Philharmonia Baroque, Ensemble San Francisco, Classical Revolution, Aveta Trio, Quinteto Latino, Lieder Alive!, Angela Lee and Marc Teicholz, Zivian-Tomkins Duo, Sierra Ensemble, Earplay, Splinter Reeds, Irene Sazer and Kate Stenberg, Trio Solano, John Calloway and the Flute Odyssey, Alaya Project, Anna Maria Mendieta Ensemble, Tiffany Austin, duo B. Experimental Band with Lisa Mezzacappa and Jason Lewis, Phillip Greenlief and David Boyce, JazzPhoria, Marcus Shelby, Rent Romus’ Life’s Blood Ensemble, Black London, Nora Stanley.
More acts will be announced at a later date.
“After all our music community has endured, it means so much to announce this in-person return of SF Music Day,” said Cory Combs, executive director of InterMusic, in a news release. “We welcome music aficionados, curious newcomers, families, seniors and students alike—and strive to make the event accessible and inclusive no matter what your past concert-going experience, or where your musical tastes may lie.”
Combs said that InterMusic SF has supported several of the acts through grants. The nonprofit advocates for and supports small ensembles and developing musicians through financial support, career development and curated performance partnerships.
SF Music Day will adhere to local and state COVID-19 protocols and regulations. Exact precautions and safety measures like masking rules and vaccine protocols will be announced on March 1. on www.sfmusicday.com.
