SAN FRANCISCO — Outside Lands was not only a showcase of incredible music but also a vibrant display of festival fashion from performers like Grace Jones and festivalgoers alike. Despite the brisk temperatures, attendees still turned heads with their eye-catching ensembles.

True to festival form, maximalist bohemian styles dominated the scene. Festivalgoers embraced swirling psychedelic prints, flowy peasant blouses, classic band tees and leather jackets, channeling music’s golden eras with their outfits. Many accessorized with colorful oversized sunglasses, fringed details and floral print bandanas. Others sported fuzzy bucket hats and comfortable baseball caps that came in handy when the sun finally peeked out in the late afternoon.

Veterans of the festival were seen layering under their North Face jackets or jumpsuits to combat the cold. Meanwhile, those seemingly impervious to Golden Gate Park’s chilly climate flaunted midriff-baring outfits. This ain’t Coachella! And bands from warmer climates, like Central and South America’s DARUMAS, seemed to take our advice to layer up. (Yes, we actually told them in advance).

Matching sets made a strong comeback this year, with groups coordinating their looks in creative ways and making it easier to locate one another in a crowd. Fairy-inspired looks, neon-colored onesies and a group who dressed up as “Where’s Waldo” characters added to the whimsical and diverse array of festival attire.
