Postponed SF Sketchfest announces new acts for 2023 edition

SF Sketchfest, which was canceled in 2021 and was postponed before it could be held earlier this year, will return in the new year. Additionally, producers announced new events for the 20th anniversary edition, which will take place from Jan. 20 to Feb. 5.
The new events include a tribute to Elliott Gould, “The Long Goodbye” 50th Anniversary screening and conversation; “A Mighty Wind” 20th Anniversary, with Christopher Guest, Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, Harry Shearer, Jane Lynch, John Michael Higgins and Michael Hitchcock and host Kevin Pollak; “I Married a Monster From Outer Space” staged reading with Dana Gould, Bobcat Goldthwait, Laraine Newman, Janet Varney and Baron Vaughn; “City of Dreams” live reading with Ken Marino, David Wain, David Cross, Thomas Lennon and Natalie Morales; Ken Marino & David Wain’s Middle Aged Dad Jam Session; Hound Tall with Moshe Kasher; improv4humans with Matt Besser; Brew Haha; and Would You Rather.
Tickets are on sale now for all shows, which include tributes to Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, comedian Laraine Newman and actor David Alan Grier, a roast of “Evil Dead” star Bruce Campbell, dozens of sketch and band-up comics and numerous podcast tapings.
Sketchfest 2023 is a long time coming. The festival was last held in February 2020, right before COVID-19 lockdowns. It was canceled in 2021. A 2022 event was briefly scheduled in 2022 before it was postponed last fall and replaced with a virtual season. The 2023 Sketchfest includes many of the acts from the 2022 lineup. SF Sketchfest is San Francisco’s independent comedy and arts festival, with various shows from sketch and stand-up comedy to improv, film, tributes and podcast recordings.
The lineup also includes a 35th anniversary tribute to “Perfect Strangers,” Comedy Central series “Viva Variety” 25th anniversary tribute and many more events.
