The producer of the annual free Stern Grove Festival has announced the lineup for its 2024 season, with 11 concerts and not one but two Big Picnic concerts, on Aug. 24 and 25.

The lineup includes pop sibling duo Tegan and Sara, which kicks Stern Grove off on June 23, as well as Chicano Batman on June 30, San Francisco Symphony’s annual festival performance on July 7, soul icons the Commodores on July 14 and numerous others.

The two-day Big Picnic Weekend has a double-bill of indie acts Sylvan Esso and Poolside on Saturday, Aug. 24 and Chaka Khan on Sunday, Aug. 25.

The festival will remain free to attend and continue to require an online reservation on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will become available one month before each show 2 p.m. at the Stern Grove Festival website. Attendees can also purchase table seating starting on May 10 for each concert throughout the summer season. This includes seating for 10 people and is a donation to the festival.

All concerts will begin at 2 p.m. PT at Sigmund Stern Grove, at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard in the city’s Sunset District.

Stern Grove Festival will also continue its broadcast and livestream partnership with KPIX. Most performances will be broadcasted live on KPIX+ 44 Cable 12 and live streamed on KPIX.com.

Stern Grove Festival brings artists of all types into the intimate wooded setting. More than 90,000 people attended last year’s season, which was marked with performances by The Flaming Lips and Patti Smith.
