Listening to a pre-release stream of the new album by Foxy Shazam, in stores Jan. 24 (thanks EMI!). Foxy Shazam reminds me more and more of a mash-up of The Darkness and Queen. I’m sure these guys are fans of both bands. There’s even a little Elton John in there and a lot of classic American rock (Foxy Shazam is from Ohio). There are still plenty of theatrics in Eric Sean Nally’s vocals, which consist mostly of falsettos and emo punk screams.

What the album lacks is originality. It doesn’t have an “Oh Lord” or “Bye Bye Symphony.” None of these 11 new songs are enough to keep your attention.
