This week’s edition of Tuesday Tracks brings folky rock by Old Sea Brigade and Rachel Bobbitt, emo rock by Commoner, pop from Arrows in Action and Sitting on Saturn, and alt-rock by Dazy.

Old Sea Brigade featuring Katie Pruitt, “Green Tea” — Artist Ben Cramer, who makes music as Old Sea Brigade, duets with Katie Pruitt on a song that brings on a sense of warmth once you hear it. “Green Tea” teaches you how to love yourself again after heartbreak. The soft folky sound feels like healing. Currently living in Sweden, Cramer goes back to his Nashville roots with his forthcoming EP, If Only I Knew (Pt. 2).

Dazy, “Pay No Mind (To The Signs)” — You’ll be nodding along to this new Dazy song. Co-produced with Ryan Hemsworth, its rhythm alludes to alt-rock sound while taking some inspiration from hip-hop. The keyboard chords and guitar riffs caught my attention right away. Dazy is currently touring the East Coast with Graham Hunt and Liquid Mike.

Rachel Bobbitt, “Furthest Limb” — This ballad centers on the idea of miscommunication. Acoustic guitar strums, electric stabs and synth lines accompany the melody created by her voice. She explores the idea of it being the main focus thanks to producer Chris Coady. It’s all very Feist-y.

Sitting on Saturn, “Ticket to New York” — SoCal band Sitting on Saturn sings this infectious pop-rock song that will have you dancing. It brings a high energy that spins yearning lyrics to an upbeat melody. “When I see you on the dance floor, there’s still a part of me that wants to believe we were meant to be,” the band sings. Sitting on Saturn will be supporting 311 this summer, making a stop at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga on Aug. 9.

Commoner, “Test Your Luck” — Tucson band Commoner has found its sound on new EP Change of Heart. “Test Your Luck” grabs your attention immediately with the intense guitar attack that open the song. The lyrics and vocal delivery are emo, while the song also blends elements of rock and even punk and metal.

Arrows in Action, “Light Like You” — This upbeat track from Arrows in Action has you dancing around to its catchy melody. It’s from their next album, I Think I’ve Been Here Before, which dives into a nostalgic sound. After playing some dates in Europe and the U.K., Arrows in Action will make their way to the U.S. and play Sacramento’s newest music venue, Channel 24 on July 25.

Kiren’s pick: Something about “Furthest Limb” by Rachel Bobbitt pulled me in immediately. My focus went to the lyrics, resonating on a personal level. The production makes Bobbitt’s voice stand out. It helped me slow down and listen to all key individual elements.
