In honor of the unofficial start of summer, Tuesday Tracks bring the summer vibes. Clay, tenderhooks and ESTA kick it off with warm, danceable beats. Beka and Samm Henshaw pair up for a summer jam, Blvck Hippie’s surf-rock-inspired entry revs it up a notch before we end on a low note with melancholy musings by Hunter Daily, Louis Cato and Sienna Spiro.

tenderhooks, “Summer Driving Fast” — After a snippet made a successful run backing ads for Ferrari and Glossier, U.K. singer-songwriter tenderhooks released the full version. The synth-driven alt-pop tune has a nostalgic feel. The ethereal intro gives way to a driving beat that moves the song along at a steady pace, while the warm vocals are touched with just the right amount of echo and reverb. This is the third single released by the enigmatic artist.

Clay, “Same Wall” — The San Francisco native brings a soulful and danceable vibe to a track that also delivers meaningful lyrics. The vocals are suggestive of jazzy neo-soul artists like Ari Lennox, with tight cadence and delivery to match. This is an intro track to the artist’s new EP, Waiting for God in the Garden. It leaves you wanting more. The accompanying visualizer, with its reimagining of a Botticelli painting, is fun and visually pleasing.

ESTA featuring DUCKWRTH and Joyce Wrice, “Too Fast” — DJ/producer ESTA worked with DUCKWRTH and Joyce Wrice on the first single from his debut EP, Francis (June 7). The SoCal native has worked with Destin Conrad, Josh Levi and 21 Savage. This slick hip-hop/dance track rolls with a soulful groove. Joyce Wrice’s sensual vocals and DUCKWRTH’s skilled lyricism wrap seamlessly around slick beats and a kicking bass line. The artist, born Francis Estaban, will be touring select cities in June, stopping at San Francisco’s Audio on  June 8.

BEKA featuring Samm Henshaw, “If It’s Not With You” — London pop artist BEKA collaborated with Samm Henshaw for a beautiful duet, the lead single from the soundtrack to the fourth season of Apple TV show “Trying.” Tapped to write the entire soundtrack for this season (a job previously held by fellow Brit Maisie Peters), the artist said the series’ theme of adoption resonated with her, since father was adopted. Though deeply moving, it remains upbeat, with BEKA and Henshaw’s vocals soaring over the rich track laden with strings.

Blvck Hippie, “Streetlights” — Memphis collective Blvck Hippie is channeling ’60s surf-rock with its latest from upcoming album Basketball Camp, due June 14. Alt-rock elements permeate through the track. At the start, melodic electric guitar picking is joined with angry chords and rapid-fire drumming, while verses are half-sung and half-screamed. A mid-song breakdown slows the pace and adds in a vocoder, leading to a psychedelic, trippy ending.

Hunter Daily, “Like You Used To” — L.A. native Hunter Daily brings you into the morass of relationship uncertainty. The anxiety-laden lyrics, doubting a long-time lover’s continued interest, is a contrast with the mid-tempo, country-like backing track. It’s the third release from the artist this year.

Louis Cato, “Why Try Love” — Moonlighting from his main gig as bandleader for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” Louis Cato showcases his stellar vocal abilities on this track. An acoustic guitar loop is all that accompanies his voice. The layering of his vocals on top of one another, sometimes in harmony and at others duetting with himself, brings richness without the need for heavy accompaniment. This song would be great for a long walk or bike ride to bring on philosophical pondering.

Sienna Spiro, “Need Me” – This U.K.-born 18-year-old vocalist is one to watch. Her soulful voice belies her age. From the start, with simple piano chords as accompaniment, her warm and rich voice is allowed to shine without the necessity of excessive production and fanfare. Spiro’s voice reaches around and throughout the verses, expertly teasing out nuances in the arrangement. She toys with each element, from the chorus to the bridge, her voice shining until the last note. This is her debut single.

Mel’s Pick: Every so often you hear a voice so strikingly beautiful, raw and honest that you remember exactly where you were when you first heard it. Adele, Amy Winehouse, Sza, Lola Young, RAYE… that’s what I felt when I heard Sienna Spiro.
