Another Planet Entertainment, the Bay-Area-based independent concert promoter, is building a new midsize venue in Sacramento. Channel 24 will open in the first three months of 2025.
The new concert hall at 1800 24th St. will have a capacity for 2,150 people, including a general admission floor and reserved seats in a tiered balcony. It will have multiple bars with food options, VIP area and an open-air patio upstairs.
In 2023, a census showed Sacramento was in need of more music performances spaces. Another Planet, best known for the Outside Lands Music Festival, has already expanded to booking shows in Sacramento and even at Lake Tahoe and in Reno. Channel 24 gives it its own venue that splits the difference between small clubs and larger theaters.
“We have so many artists touring through Northern California that have to skip Sacramento because there is not an appropriately sized venue for them to play,” said Allen Scott, Another Planet president of concerts and festivals, in a written release. “Channel 24, right in the heart of the city, fills that need, and we hope that the venue quickly becomes an integral part of Sacramento’s vibrant live music scene.”
Channel 24 was designed by Ellis Architects and is being constructed by SKK Developments. Another Planet called in Sacramento design agency Fathom for its branding and launch.
The building will house an Another Planet Entertainment Sacramento office, which will be headed by Jon Gunton and Liz Liles-Brown.
“We are excited to see an industry pioneer like Another Planet Entertainment invest in and expand Sacramento’s burgeoning music scene,” said Mike Testa, president and CEO of Visit Sacramento. “Our city is full of great history when it comes to local music and music venues, and the addition of Channel 24 to our market will bring a long list of new entertainment opportunities to our city and region.”
Another Planet is currently heading up the Castro Theatre rehabilitation project in San Francisco. It has also expanded its artist and venue management reach into Los Angeles.
