‘Barbie’ music going on tour, coming to Shoreline

The music of “Barbie” is going on tour, performed by an all-female orchestra, and coming to Shoreline Amphitheatre in July.
Barbie The Movie: In Concert is a tour that will feature the music from the Warner Bros. Pictures film—alongside the film—with a performance by The Barbie Land Sinfonietta, conducted by Tony-winning producer Macy Schmidt. The majority of the orchestra are woman of color. The tour’s road crew also consists of all-women technical and production professionals.
Mattel has signed off on the tour as well.
“Throughout this entire process, I’ve been so inspired by Mattel’s genuine commitment to everything this film stands for,” Schmidt said in a news release. “I am particularly excited to be partnering with Mattel as I have long been inspired by Barbie’s purpose statement: ‘to inspire the limitless potential in every girl.’ It couldn’t be more aligned to have an all-women orchestra performing this film, bringing its message to life onstage.”
The 37-city tour includes the film projected onto a giant LED screen. Tour-specific merchandise and photo opportunities will also be available. The Bay Area date is on July 25 at Shoreline.

A presale for Citi cardholders for all dates begins on Tuesday, March 5. There will be additional resales leading up to the general Salem which begins on Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. local time vis Ticketmaster’s website. Fore more information on the tour, visit its website.
“Barbie” is currently up for eight Academy Award nominations. Music from the film was nominated for 11 Grammy Awards, winning for Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media (Billie Eilish and Finneas’ “What Was I Made For?”) and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
It was the highest grossing film of 2023, directed by Sacramento native Greta Gerwig from a screenplay written by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach.
