Golden State Warriors’ entertainment arm announces artist lineup
Golden State Entertainment, the new entertainment division of the Golden State Warriors basketball club, has announced its lineup of artists, including multi-album recording agreements with hip-hop artists Rhymefest and J.U.I.C.E. The company will also release music by Grammy-nominated singer and producer Georgia Anne Muldrow, and has partnered with Grammy-winning producer and industry executive Dion “No I.D.” Wilson.
No I.D. will be GSE’s creative and strategic advisor, helping to produce music for GSE artists and advise on digital strategies and development of its long-term vision.
Former executive at Def Jam Recordings and Capitol Music Group, No I.D. has produced and developed the careers of Jay-Z, Ye, Rihanna, Snoh Aalegra, Drake, J. Cole, Jhené Aiko and Common, among others.
“We are on the cusp of something truly special and I look forward to discovering new ways to bridge the worlds of content, sports, entertainment and technology,” Wilson said in a news release.
Rhymefest won a Grammy as songwriter of 2005 hit “Jesus Walks” (Kanye West) and another as cowriter (with John Legend and Common) for 2016 song “Glory.” He’s written multiple hit singles, including “Brand New,” featuring West.
Chicago-born J.U.I.C.E., meanwhile, beat Eminem in a now-famous 1997 freestyle rap battle. He’s released seven albums and will release another featuring All Natural, which Georgia Anne Muldrow will produce. Muldrow will release music with GSE as both a producer and singer.
The new artists join Oakland rapper MAYZIN, who performed during halftime of the Warriors playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies on May 7.
