Green Day launches Punk Bunny Coffee, Keurig partnership

Green Day and its Punk Bunny Coffee.
East Bay punk rockers Green Day have announced a second coffee brand, Punk Bunny Coffee. It replaces the band’s previous endeavor, Oakland Coffee, which is set to shutter at the end of June.
Punk Bunny will continue to provide organic, Fair Trade Certified coffee with an emphasis on sustainability and community, the band said in a news release. It will also partner with Keurig (officially, Keurig Dr Pepper) to join the Keurig K-Cup Pod System for users of a Keurig brewer. The Punk Bunny K-Cup pods will include the roasts Father of All…Dark Roasts, Soundcheck, Last Ride In and Light Club. The pods will have removable lids to prepare pods for recycling.
Punk Bunny includes as investors comedian (and Concord native) Adam Devine and chef Rachael Ray and her husband, musician John Cusimano.
Oakland Coffee products were manufactured by a third-party Bay Area roaster, but Green Day wanted to have more control over their roasts, the band said. Oakland Coffee merged with Caruso Foods, a family-run Ohio coffee roaster.
“We worked closely with the band to develop blends of Fair Trade Certified Organic Arabica beans roasted to four distinct roast profiles,” Caruso Foods CEO Dominic Caruso said in the news release.
The four blends will be available in 12-ounce bags in addition to the Keurig partnership.
A portion of profits from every bag or pod of Punk Bunny Coffee sold and distributed will go to several charities, including One Tree Planted, Oceana, Keep Memory Alive, Eat. Learn. Play, and the Ron Finley Project.
The coffee is available to purchase now at the product’s website and at Keurig.com.
