Hardly Strictly Bluegrass will launch its 25th annual festival this fall with a tribute to frequent performer Emmylou Harris.
The concert, called “A Tribute to Emmylou Harris & 25 Years of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass,” will feature numerous Hardly Strictly artists and will benefit Bonaparte’s Retreat, Harris’ Nashville dog rescue organization that focuses on senior pups, as well as larger ones and those with medical conditions and disabilities.
It will take place on Oct. 2 at the Masonic and will have Harris performing alongside the likes of Patty Griffin, Steve Earle, Margo Price, Allison Russell, Albert Lee, Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, Sam Bush and Shawn Colvin.
Buddy Miller will serve as musical director, supported by the Red Hot Dirt Ramblers and a band composed of Harris’ bandmates.
Tickets to the benefit show will go on sale on Thursday, May 22, via Ticketmaster.
Harris is the only artist who’s performed at every edition of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. The free festival will run from Oct. 3 to 5 in Golden Gate Park. The lineup will be announced in the coming months, in stages.
