Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation has contributed $600,000 to World Central Kitchen in its effort to assist refugees in Eastern Europe as a result of Russia’s war in Ukraine. The majority of that, $500,000 is in the from of a donation; the remaining amount came earlier as a grant.

All Within My Hands has a goal to provide another $400,000 to WCK in the next two months.

“The work that Chef José Andrés and the dedicated World Central Kitchen cooks do on the frontlines in a humanitarian crisis is nothing short of incredible,” Lars Ulrich wrote in a news release. “We are inspired, humbled and beyond proud to support their teams currently in six European countries serving the millions of Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homes.”

Metallica is letting fans get in on the help with a line of merchandise available in its online store that will benefit World Central Kitchen. As of this writing, only one T-shirt was available, but more items were expected to be added. The merchandise will be available through May 31.

The local chapter fundraising competition will start on May 2 and run for one month. Additional AWMH auctions and raffles will feature items including the guitars James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett will be playing during the National Anthem at Metallica Night with the San Francisco Giants on May 24.

People can also donate directly on the All Within My Hands website and selecting World Central Kitchen Ukraine Relief Fund from the drop-down menu. All proceeds will go directly to WCK.

“World Central Kitchen is grateful for Metallica and All Within My Hands Foundation’s support and belief in our mission. They share our belief that a plate of food is more than just nourishment; it’s hope and a sign that someone cares. Their support will allow us to continue to provide fresh and comforting meals to Ukrainians fleeing their homes as well as those staying in the country,” WCK CEO Nate Mook said in a written statement.
