Neil Young, Stephen Stills resurrect a benefit for Bridge School, in SoCal
Neil Young will lead and perform at a concert benefiting Bridge School, but it won’t be at the once-popular annual benefit concert in the South Bay.
Instead, the Bay Area rocker will hold the event, dubbed “Harvest Moon,” on Oct. 5 at the Painted Turtle camp in Lake Hughes, north of Santa Clarita. Long-time friend and collaborator Stephen Stills will also perform.
Proceeds from the concert will go to both the Bay Area school that works with people with severe speech and physical impairments, and Painted Turtle Camp, which works with children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Painted Turtle offers medical support along with a camp environment free of charge to participants. It’s a member of the SeriousFun Children’s Network, founded by Paul Newman, and is California’s only camp of its kind.
The daytime concert will include additional artists to be announced at a later date. Both Young and Stills will perform solo sets, joined by the other artists. The concert will conclude with a sunset performance. There will be family friendly activities like face painting and food trucks.
Limited general admission tickets will go on sale online on Friday, Sept. 6 for $275 including fees. Sponsorship and VIP packages are available, with benefits like overnight cabin stays, camp activities and a gourmet dinner prepared by a chef.
