Concert production company Noise Pop Tuesday announced the return of its free Mission festival 20th Street Block Party, which will take place on Oct. 15 at a new location. The one-day event will take place on Valencia Street, between 18th and 20th streets—to which the Noise Pop headquarters relocated since the start of the pandemic.

All of the acts on the lineup call the Bay Area home, from punk trio Destroy Boys to favorites Hot Flash Heat Wave, electronic soul group The Seshen; singer-songwriter MARINERO and rapper Ricky Lake. The bill includes Sour Widows, Juicebumps and The Umbrellas.

The day-long event will remain free. It will again include Mission-based merchants, artists and restaurants providing offerings. Even with free admission, attendees will need to register online for their passes in the interest of safety. Reservations are open nowVIP passes are available for purchase. They cost $69 and include a private lounge and bar, private outdoor viewing areas, free adult beverages for those of legal age, free appetizers and other perks. The cost of VIP passes will increase closer to the event date.

Noise Pop is now inviting businesses along Valencia Street and across the Mission District to participate as official vendors. The deadline for businesses to apply is Aug. 31.

In a written statement, Noise Pop President Stacy Horne said the mission of the 20th Street Block Party remains to lift up the Mission District as a pillar and guiding light for the culture of San Francisco.

“With a focus on all things local, from the artists to the vendors to the nonprofit partners involved this year, I can’t imagine a better way to support our fellow Mission District neighbors while spending a lovely day outdoors in one of the most vibrant and culturally rich communities in the entire country,” Horne said.

A portion of proceeds from 20th Street Block Party will benefit 826 Valencia, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting under-resourced students and teachers, as well as La Cocina, which supports low-income food entrepreneurs across the Bay Area. Attendees can donate toward the two nonprofits upon registering for the event and at the gate.
