Bay Area fans clamoring to see Olivia Rodrigo in concert will have to wait just a little bit longer. The pop superstar was tapped to kick off her tour in support of debut album Sour at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Center on April 2, but that concert will now take place on the back end of the tour on May 27.
In a response to RIFF, a spokesperson for Rodrigo’s label, Geffen, said the pandemic-delayed Grammys forced the San Francisco gig to be rescheduled. The Grammys were originally scheduled to take place on Jan. 31, but the Omicron-fueled COVID-19 surge led organizers to move the ceremony to April 3. Rodrigo will also be performing at the Grammys.
The show was an instant sell-out and is still a hot ticket on the secondary market, with tickets currently listed on StubHub at $390 per ducat. All tickets for the April 2 performance will be honored at the May 27 event, and fans unable to attend the May performance can get a refund at their point of purchase.
Rodrigo is not only performing, but is also a nominee in seven categories, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Rodrigo’s tour will now kick off April 5 in Portland, Ore.
A barrage of pop stars will descend on the Bay Area over the next two weeks. In the coming days, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and Charli XCX will all be performing at venues throughout the Bay Area.
Rodrigo’s rescheduled date will now coincide with the first night of BottleRock Napa Valley. The San Francisco show was the only one impacted.
