New outdoor venue Oxbow RiverStage coming to Napa

Oxbow RiverStage

A new 4,000-seat venue is coming to Napa starting next month. The Oxbow RiverStage will be run by Another Planet and the Blue Note Entertainment Group, which also runs the Blue Note club in Napa and eight other jazz clubs worldwide. The outdoor venue is at 1268 McKinstry St. in the Oxbow District.

The first act named to perform at the Oxbow RiverStage, on Aug. 25 will be the Steve Miller Band, along with Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives. More shows, which will include both ticketed and free events, as well as a combination of seated and standing concerts, will be announced on July 9.

The Oxbow RiverStage will be operated and booked exclusively by Another Planet, with assistance from Blue Note.

“We have produced a number of shows in the North Bay counties over the years, but have never found a permanent home up here,” Another Planet CEO Gregg Perloff, said. “Oxbow RiverStage will be Another Planet Entertainment’s first exclusive venue in the region and we couldn’t be more excited to bring world class music to Downtown Napa.”

The success of BottleRock Napa in recent years has proven that people will travel to the North Bay to see live music. The producers of that festival have since partnered with Live Nation. The new stage gives Another Planet a foothold in the region as well.

Another Planet and Blue Note are planning 15 ticketed and five free shows held annually between June and October.

“Our goal at Oxbow RiverStage is to create an atmosphere combining really cool elements you might find at both standard outdoor concert venues and music festivals,” Blue Note Napa owner Ken Tesler said.

Events at the venue will include the region’s craft beers and spirits, Napa Valley wines, food, art by Gordon Huether and a “VIP lounge that rivals the VIP experience at many high-end festivals.”

Tickets for the first show go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at the venue’s websiteTicketmaster.com and at the Blue Note Napa box office at 1030 Main St.
