The San Francisco Symphony Tuesday announced the schedule for its 2023-’24 season, the organization’s 112th and the fourth under Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen.

The season will include a statewide celebration of new music, the California Festival, featuring more than 50 organizations and ensembles, and a three-concert Southern California tour. This year’s schedule will include four world premiere performances performances, two U.S. premieres and 11 works new to the San Francisco Symphony.

This season’s schedule will also be highlighted  by performances by guest conductors and prominent soloists including concerts featuring collaborative partners Pekka Kuusisto and Carol Reiley, and four programs conducted by Music Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas. Salonen will conduct four world premiere performances, as well as the California Festival and the Southern California tour.

The season will begin with an Opening Night Gala and the annual All San Francisco Concert, which honors local social service and neighborhood organizations. Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos and Kuusisto will join Salonen and the symphony across three Orchestral Series weeks in September and October, and there will be a program featuring works by Ludwig van Beethoven.

This season, two members of the San Francisco Symphony appear as soloists: Principal Clarinet Carey Bell gives the first San Francisco Symphony performances of Esa-Pekka Salonen’s “Kínēma,” and Principal Viola Jonathan Vinocour performs William Walton’s “Viola Concerto.”

The season will also include a program featuring works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Johannes Brahms. Standard and Compose Your Own subscriptions are available now, and single tickets go on sale July 15.
