InterMusic SF marks 25 years, announces annual SF Music Day
More than 24 local music groups will perform at InterMusic’s 16th annual SF Music Day at the War Memorial & Performing Arts Center on Oct. 15. The free downtown event will have artists performing on several stages from noon to 6 p.m.
SF Music Day celebrates the city’s past, present and future diverse music communities, including roots, electronica, jazz, choral, blues, Western classical, hip-hop, ethnic and experimental styles.
The lineup includes, curated by vocalist and educator Faye Carol, includes Lady Bianca’s Quartet, Stephanie Crawford Quartet, Jesus Diaz y su QBA, Glen Pearson Trio, Jaz Sawyer Trio, Tongo Eisen-Martin and Eric Wyatt Quartet. Other acts include Beast Nest, Lorin Benedict + AURA, Brass Over Bridges, Classical Revolution, Charles Gorczynski Tango Quintet, Jahi & The Collective, James Mahone Trio, Melody of China, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale with director Valérie Sainte-Agathe, Quinteto Latino, Rob Reich Quartet, Stanton Street Duo, Telegraph Quartet, Trio 180, TROUBLE TROUBLE, Where the Sun Grows and ZOFO Duet.
Classical KDFC radio DJs Maggie Clennon Reberg and Rik Malone will host the event.
Now in its 25th year, InterMusic SF is a nonprofit that advocates for the arts in the Bay Area. Many of the performers have received funding through the organization.
“SF Music Day is an event that brings so much joy to audiences of all genres and disciplines,” Executive Director Crystal Pascucci-Clifford said in a news release. “We are proud to bring together generations of audiences and musicians from all areas of the Bay Area musical spectrum to perform under the same roof and for the same cause—improving and enhancing the lives of artists.”
