SF Symphony announces summer season, Stern Grove Fest and Stanford Live appearances

The San Francisco Symphony on Thursday announced its summer season, including a free Fourth of July concert at Stern Grove Festival, residency at Stanford Live’s Frost Amphitheater and shows at Davies Symphony Hall.

The season will run from July 2 to Aug. 13 and include performances conducted by Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen, Edwin Outwater, Michael Morgan, Lina González-Granados and Xian Zhang. Soloists include pianists Aaron Diehl and George Li, cellist Pablo Ferrández, and SF Symphony’s Principal Trumpet Mark Inouye and Principal Clarinet Carey Bell.

Performances include an American showcase (July 2 and 4), Haydn and Mozart (July 16 and 17), William Grant Still and Mozart (Aug. 6 and 7) and the music of John Williams (Aug. 12 and 13).

Each week’s program will be performed twice—first at Davies Symphony Hall and the following evening at Frost Amphitheater, with one repeat performance at Stern Grove Festival on July 4.

Tickets for concerts at Davies go on sale on June 11 at 10 a.m. at the symphony’s website and at 415-864-6000. Frost Amphitheater tickets are available online. Tickets for the July 4 show are free but need to be reserved, after June 8, here.
