Sweet Relief to honor Joan Baez, celebrate 30th anniversary at SF fundraiser show
Nonprofit Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which provides financial assistance to musicians and music industry workers in need or facing physical or mental health issues, disability or age-related struggles, will host a fundraiser concert in San Francisco celebrating its 30th anniversary while honoring music icon Joan Baez.
The show will take place at the Masonic on Feb. 8 and will feature a rare performance by Baez, as well as by Bonnie Raitt, Emmy Lou Harris, Tom Morello, Hozier, Rosanne Cash, Margo Price, Lucinda Williams, Taj Mahal and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott.
They will be backed by a house band consisting of Joe Henry, Jason Crosby, Greg Leisz, Gabe Harris and David Piltch. The organizers promise more artists to be announced, as well as surprise guests.
VIP tickets are already available and include soundcheck access, merch and other bonuses. Other tickets will go on sale online Friday, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m.
The concert is part of an ongoing series of shows presented by Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. It follows this year’s Ramblin’ Jack Elliott tribute, which featured performances by Nathaniel Rateliff, Jackson Browne, John Oates, Bobby Weir and others.
