The Warning gives the San Francisco 49ers an NFL draft day assist

The Warning joins 49ers luminaries to announce the team’s fourth round selection in Monterrey, Mexico on April 26, 2025.
The San Francisco 49ers got help from an unlikely place during Saturday’s fourth round of the NFL Draft. For the team’s 113th selection of Defensive Tackle CJ West, from Indiana, the ESPN broadcast flipped from Green Bay, Wis. to a live feed from Monterrey, Mexico. There, host Sergio Treviño was joined by 49ers legend Patrick Willis, Monterrey native and 49ers offensive tackle Alfredo Gutiérrez, mascot Sourdough Sam and rock band The Warning. Donning 49ers gear, sisters Daniela, Paulina and Alejandra Villarreal announced the selection of West on the TV broadcast.
“Vamos Niners!” the trio shouted after announcing the pick.
The band had been teasing some sort of partnership with the Red and Gold on social media, taking to Instagram wearing the throwback “Faithful to the Bay” 49ers jackets.
The pairing could be a sign of things to come. The 49ers are rumored to play a regular season game in Mexico City in 2026, according to a report from NBC Sports California Reporter Matt Maiocco. It’s unclear whether the partnership will go beyond draft day, but tapping the rising rock band to build excitement would make sense given their exploding popularity in their home country. Earlier this year, the band played three sold-out shows at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, and the momentum continues to build. The Warning has also previously partnered with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Closer to home, the band will spend the late spring on the road opening for Halsey, before headlining and playing festival dates in Europe. The Halsey tour will open with a Bay Area performance on May 10 at Toyota Pavilion in Concord.
