Weezer to release new music on Sunday’s episode of ‘The Simpsons’

Weezer many have pushed back the release of its new album, Van Weezer, but the band isn’t shying away from releasing new music. But while many artists are turning to streaming live performances and late-night TV, Weezer is doing so through “The Simpsons” on Sunday evening, where the band will also guest on the episode, titled “The Hateful Eight Year-Olds.”

On the show, Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner will voice a cover band named Sailor’s Delight, the house band on a romantic cruise taken by Homer and Marge. The band will perform several “covers” that will sound familiar to fans of Weezer (The Black Album) or Pacific Daydream, but one song is completely new: “Blue Dream,” which is on the band’s forthcoming album, Van Weezer.

Van Weezer, the band’s 14th studio album, was produced by Suzy Shinn (Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy) and inspired by metal. It follows 2019’s Weezer (The Black Album), as well as their covers album, Weezer (The Teal Album).

“The Simpsons” airs at 8 p.m. on FOX.
