Insert Foot: It’s only been a week of Trump and midterms can’t come fast enough

What a week.

We’re screwed.

I’m probably not. At least on the surface. But everyone needs to assess, because the lines are blurred and it’s going to just get more difficult until we can put our new/old Big-Mac-inhaling leader on an ice flow and shove it toward Greenland in 2028.

I shouldn’t have said that. Now I’m going to get my Secret Service protection revoked and my water diverted.

I’m a middle-aged white heterosexual male of Northern European (blindingly white) descent who lives in a California rental home owned by a landlord with fire insurance.

I’m not exactly poor but, you know … journalist. My kids aren’t trans (so far) and are probably heterosexual (I don’t ask, they don’t tell, I don’t care).

At least I haven’t committed the soon-to-be crime of asking the mean tangerine to be nice to immigrants and poor people, like that soft-spoken Episcopal bishop in Washington, D.C., who’s receiving death threats from the foaming-at-the-mouth crazies.

Trump called her a “radical left hardline Trump hater” and demanded an apology for “her inappropriate statements.”

Right. Jesus, the savior of so many voters who got Il Duce Sequel elected, always hated the poor.

The next four years promise to be the most challenging non-wartime years the country ever faced. When I say “the country,” I mean working people, People of Color, LGBTQ people, immigrants … everyone except well-off whites. Just like Jesus wants it.

By then there’ll be three or four different conservative parties, thanks to the ever-shifting (insane) whims of Ronald McDonald finally wearing out the foolish, non-millionaires who thought voting for him was a good idea.

He’s a bully who this week ordered minions not to disseminate information about bird flu to somehow make it go away.

He’s a bully who this week said Native Americans aren’t natural born citizens. I’m not sure where he would deport them to … oh, and he signed an executive order to nullify the 14th amendment, because he thinks the Constitution is his to screw with.

He’s a bully who this week made prescription drugs much more expensive for seniors, to make his pharma bro buddies more money they can never spend.

He’s a moron who blamed the SoCal wildfires on a fish.

He’s a reactive fool trying to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico (officially in the U.S., the Department of Interior told the New York Times) to the Gulf of America.

He’s a bully who pulled the U.S. out of the World Health Organization and threatened to invade Greenland and Panama.

Mr. Back the Blue pardoned and gave clemency to more than 1,500 convicts who tried to overthrow the government, some of whom were responsible for beating cops, trying to kill a vice president, and literally using the U.S Capitol as a toilet.

And on and on and on.

It hasn’t even been a week yet and the stench is already too much to bear.

Do his voters have buyer’s remorse yet? I imagine they will once tariffs and lack of cheap labor send food prices even higher.

My plan? I’m staying in California, where my daughters can get all the healthcare I hope they won’t need, where the majority of elected officials don’t believe women’s societal roles and rights should’ve been frozen in 1836.

That’s right. Thank God for California. Even with sissy Gavin Newsom not being able to stand atop the Santa Monica Mountains and physically stop 90-mile-an-hour winds from spreading wildfires in January.

California haters couldn’t shut up about how supposedly awful California is. Keep yapping. In four years, California may be one of the last states without M-16-toting stormtroopers on every corner, checking the papers of passers-by like 1950s East Germany.

Our disaster-prone state may have trouble if Emperor Orange Julius Caesar follows through with his threat to nuke FEMA. We may have to hold our collective breath for two years and hope for a veto-proof majority after the midterms to lighten the oppression.

Can we stand and take the embarrassing insanity, in-our-face racism, bewildering bullying behavior, and fascist leadership that will undoubtedly cost lives?

Less than two years until the midterms and the possibility of getting the House and the Senate back. Hold on tight.
