SAN FRANCISCO —  Garrett Clark Borns, better known as Børns, performed to a sold-out Popscene crowd at Rickshaw Stop, his second appearance inside the tiny club. The difference now is that Børns sells out considerably larger venues.

His 60-minute set was long enough to entertain and interact with the crowd. Fans asked questions, gave him flowers, and one fan even gave him a drawing. When the fans weren’t politely asking questions, they were screaming and singing to his songs.

“There are two types of songs,” Børns told the fans prior to performing new track “I Don’t Want You Back” with his backing band. “The ones you know about and the one you don’t know about.”

The set was 12 songs in all and also includes previous singles like “American Money,” “10,000 Emerald Pools” and “Electric Love.” After a short encore, the band finished the night with “Sweet Dreams.” Børns returns to the Bay Area in January, when he will headline the Fox Theater in Oakland.

The show was opened by soul pop singer CYN, who performed a short set of eclectic tracks that blended indie pop and R&B, as well as a slow burn cover of No Doubt’s. “Just a Girl.”
