CHVRCHES and Wolf Alice, two bands from the United Kingdom, had some time to kill between two weekends of Coachella and decided to hit the road together for a handful of shows. On Monday at the Fox Theater, the first of two sold-out Bay Area gigs, the crowd was either Chvrches-centric or just late in arriving.

In either case, many missed out on Wolf Alice’s energizing set. By the time the headliner took the stage, however, there was little room to move around on the floor (it was tighter than the previous night for M83), and vocalist Lauren Mayberry was in a conversational mood, unafraid to discuss anything from American politics to her snot-filled stage towel.
