SAN FRANCISCO — While Zedd last released a full-length project in 2015, he’s been dropping singles steadily since then. But it’s been two years since the producer and electronica artist has been able to perform them. On Friday, he returned to the sold-out Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for the first of two shows in the City, following a more intimate performed at 1015 Folsom the night prior.

The auditorium filled with with glow sticks that lit up the darkness in anticipation. Mask-clad concertgoers lined the railings and packed close together. Neon lights strobed as Zedd appeared and launched into his catalog of hits. Pop records and his signature house remixes were blended together. Fans sang along to a remix of Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us” as the screen flashed video of a FIFA soccer crowd chanting.

Smoke cannons and pyrotechnics were sett off at near every other bass drop and amped up the euphoric crowd that was soaking up the rhythm. Hands raised and people surged forward as as Zedd transitioned to 2012 nostalgic love tune “Clarity.” Unique transitions included the Black Eyed Peas 2010 song ‘Then Time” (which itself sampled 1987’s “The Time of My Life”).

As the set progressed, hip-hop tracks were mashed into trap music, including Travis Scott’s “Goosebumps,” which incited some moshing.

Zedd’s set consisted of deep house with “TRON”-inspired visuals, which meshed together perfectly.

Producer and DJ Wolfgang Gartner (Joseph Thomas Youngman), another artist who has paved the way in electronic and house music, opened the show. Early arrivers shuffled in unison with his bass drops. Psychedelic Windows-XP-wallpaper-inspired visuals supported his unique house music set. One of the highlights included Wolfgang Gartner mashing a 10-minute remix sampling the “Star Wars” theme.
