SAN FRANCISCO — Oakland’s Kehlani wrapped up the majority their Crash Tour on Friday with a homecoming show that delivered drama and several local guests.

The set, focused on their latest album, CRASH, was jam-packed with hits. San Francisco’s show was originally meant as a tour closer, until Hurricane Milton forced the postponement of two shows in Florida that were rescheduled for December.

A band kicked off the show with a raucous intro as Kehlani appeared on set of steps in front of a circular screen surrounded by lights for the start of “Next to You,” from the new album.

A single spotlight trained on Kehlani as the band moved right into another new tune, “GrooveTheory.” Their stellar vocal chops were on full display as they easily navigated the whimsical song’s melody. Long notes were emphasized with dramatic, rock- and pop-inspired poses. Dancers joined Kehlani for “What I Want,” and together they performed some slick choreography, which Kehlani managed while singing. A guitar player laid on heavy riffs, bringing a rock edge to the mid-tempo dance track.

“Bay Area! I’m home!” the artist yelled, taking a break from the music to talk about the journey that brought them to the present. “I remember when they said I couldn’t play the New Parish, I remember when they said I couldn’t play the Greek Theatre or the Bill Graham or the Oracle, but look where the fuck we are at tonight!”

The crowd screamed in response.

“You know this one?” Kehlani asked as the first few notes of “The Way,” from 2015’s You Should Be Here, rang out. They performed that one alone on stage, singing plaintively. Kehlani encouraged the audience to rap Chance the Rapper’s part. They continued on with the title track from the same album, still alone.

The audience singalong continued with “Toxic,” from 2020’s It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, with Kehlani performing some sexy moves on stage.

The stage was flooded with red light as the dancers returned for the next few songs. First up was Crash’s “Sucia,” where Kehlani seductively straddled the stairs as the dancers performed sexy choreography around them. FLO collaboration “8,” and 2020’s “Can I” and “Water” followed in quick succession.

“Every time you play some old shit, you have to follow up with some new shit that just dropped,” Leilani said before getting to two sensual tracks from August mixtape While We Wait 2: “When He’s Not There” and “Clothes Off.”

“I need you to raise your hand if you have been personally victimized by a video of me really fuckin’ drunk in the club,” Kehlani said ahead of Masego collaboration “Hate the Club.” “Distraction,” which was revamped with heavy guitar parts that gave it a rock feel, saw Kehlani dramatically duetting with her guitarist.

Following “Tears,” a neon “Wedding Chapel” sign illuminated the main screen for CRASH track “Vegas.” Kehlani and a dancer encouraged the audience to sway to the rhythm. They marched down the aisle up the stairs before the dancer disappeared backstage.

Kehlani stood at center stage for “everything,” from 2022’s blue water road, powerfully belting and moving their arms to accentuate the vocal punches. They slowed it down with 2017 single “Honey,” singing perched on a stool, accompanied by acoustic guitar, before stepping it up again for 2020’s “Open (Passionate).”

The artists performed “Chapel” in a medley with Bruno Mars’ “Marry You.” Kehlani paused to recognize a recently engaged couple in the crowd before lying down on the stair against a now-seated guitarist for “Lose My Wife,” which ended in an electrifying guitar solo.

The show was not without surprised. Kehlani has many musical friends in the Bay Area and called several up, starting with LaRussell for “10s, 20s, 50s, 100s.” The Vallejo rapper was characteristically animated.

Representing Oakland was Mistah F.A.B., with “New Oakland,” and Kamaiyah with “Fuck It Up.” Kehlani then brought up several children from the audience while performing a remix of Jordan Adetunji’s “Kehlani.” The kids helped out with the TikTok dance before leaving with hugs and selfies.

Kehlani concluded with a bang with a slew of hits like Cardi B. collab “Ring,” “Nights Like This” and new single, “After Hours.”

U.K. soul trio FLO kicked off its set with 2022 single “Cardboard Box.” Stella Quaresma, Jorja Douglas and Renée Downer wore matching red minidresses and knee-high black boots, looking the part of a ’60s Motown group.  The audience appeared captivated by the dancing and stellar harmonizing.

Their performance suffered slightly from muddied vocals that were sometimes lost in the arrangement due either to the massive room’s acoustics or technical issues. Still, the 30-minute set was well-received with tracks like 2022’s “Losing You” and “Bending My Rules,” from 2024 album Access All Areas. FLO capped its set with uptempo dance number “Check.”

Atlanta rapper Anycia kept it “very demure” with her stage setup: a laptop on a fuzzy pink table. She was accompanied by a hype man, and her aesthetic was echoed in her approach to performing. She walked the stage confidently, emphasizing her swift flow with occasional hand gestures. She spit bars cleanly and with much gusto.

Her comedic storytelling between tracks was engaging and built a rapport with the audience. Performing a five-song set, she hit on several tracks from her 2023 and 2024 albums, Extra and Princess Pop That, including “ATM” and “Bad Weather.”
