Last year, between tapings of MTV Live TV show American Supergroup, Jeffrey Krantz hit the studio to write, record and self-produce his debut solo album. With rock band The Effects, Krantz toured with Kings of Leon, Shinedown and the Toadies, and he was a finalist in the TV competition. But Krantz hopes he goes even farther on his own.

The Nashville musician and his band, who perform as Krantz, make ‘90s alt-rock-leaning tunes with a side helping of psychedelia and the bombast of ‘80s hair rock, as evidenced throughout his self-titled album, released late last year.

Today RIFF is premiering the video for album cut “Psycho.” The video is a sexy, dark look at online relationships. It’s all fun and games, with lingerie, melting ice cream and a head in a freezer, but Krantz is also donating a portion of proceeds from the video to anti-online bullying and cyber stalking efforts. The video may give fans a taste of the music he has coming in 2018.

“I definitely write to whatever mood I’m feeling at the time,” he said. “It’s got a little edge to it, which I dig, and can be seen in some of the new stuff, for sure. This one also is very musically influenced by the ‘90s alternative scene, which shows on some of the new stuff as well.”
