This week on Tuesday Tracks, we’ve got new pop tunes by Trousdale, Emily Haber, googly eyes, Jade Bird and Kaleah Lee. We’ve also got a shoegaze song from Panchiko and jazz by David Murray.
Emily Haber, “Nostalgia” – Haber says “Nostalgia” is “a tribute to the childhood I longed for but never truly had, blending wistful dreams with the heartbreak of growing up.” This gentle song is the title track from her upcoming EP. Born with severe hearing loss in both ears, she has worn hearing aids since she was 4. She’s pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from this single to The Starkey Hearing Foundation, which helps making hearing healthcare services more accessible to those in need.

googly eyes, “Five More Minutes” – Singer-songwriter Bethany Warner, who used to make music as Deza, is now googly eyes. Last year she signed with Tove Lo’s Pretty Swede label, and she says she wrote this song while evacuating from the L.A. wildfires. This electro-pop tune is about surviving in chaos and navigating the unknown. All proceeds from this track will go to We Are Moving The Needle’s Fire Relief Fund. Her debut EP, Starlet, is out now.
Panchiko, “Mac’s Omlette” – Panchiko has a wild story, if you haven’t heard it yet. This British ‘90s band had broken up and lapsed into obscurity until unexpected virality brought it back 20 years later. Part shoegaze, part Radiohead, “Mac’s Omlette” shows why this band was so good and the internet demanded it get back together. Its new album, Gingko, is out on April 4. See Panchiko at the Fox Theater in Oakland on June 16.

Jade Bird, “Who Wants” – U.K. born and bred, and now based in L.A., Jade Bird wrote “Who Wants” about her parents’ divorce and how it’s reverberated through her own relationships. This is a beautiful, haunting song with acoustic guitar, piano and the artists’s gorgeous voice. “Who wants to talk about when it all goes wrong?” she sings. She’ll be in Europe next month, but hopefully she’ll be back to California to play live soon.
Trousdale, “Over and Over” – That feeling when you run into your ex and they’re doing a little too well without you? Trousdale know it. “I don’t need you to tell me that you’re doing just fine/ Unless you want to hurt me,” they sing. A little bit country and a little bit low-fi pop, this sassy trio will win you over with its charming harmonies.
Trousdale is opening for Lake Street Dive in September, but the trio is out on its own tour now. The band is donating a portion of ticket sales to support efforts to rebuild and restore areas and people affected by the SoCal wildfires. Catch them at The Chapel in San Francisco on June 19.

David Murray, “Birdly Serenade” – Jazz legend David Murray is back with a new album inspired by who he calls the “original improvisors,” birds. The title track features vocalist Ekep Nkwelle. Saxophonist, bass clarinetist, composer and bandleader Murray has a new band of primo jazz musicians playing with him on this high-flying tune. The album is presented by The Birdsong Project, which benefits the National Audubon Society, naturally.
Kaleah Lee, “Fever” – Kaleah Lee blew up on TikTok for her covers, but it’s her original songs that are getting noticed now. Lee’s style is intimate—like she’s letting you in on a secret—and her voice is arresting. Fans of Mitski and Taylor Swift’s more acoustic work will be captivated by the intimacy of “Fever.” Lee will be on tour with Youth Lagoon in May.
