Tecate sponsors concert of Latinx music benefiting SF Philharmonic

Tecate beer is sponsoring a concert starring Latinx artists in the Bay Area on Oct. 1 that will benefit the upstart San Francisco Philharmonic orchestra.

The concert, “Tecate ALTA Presents: ALTA Sinfónica,” will take place at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco is headed up by Jessica Bejarano, the founder and conductor of the orchestra. The Mexican American was born in L.A. and is one of few female orchestra conductors in the U.S.

Other artists on the bill include Mexican American San Jose native Snow Tha Product, a Latin-Grammy-nominated rapper and mariachi singer; Angeleno Oscar Cortez, known for “callejero,” blending regional Mexican corridos with modern music; and Panama-raised, Bay-Area-based duo Los Rakas, who perform blend hip-hop, plena, reggae and dancehall music.

The performance aims to present a “reimagined approach to classical music.” Tickets for the 21-and-older are available now.
