OAKLAND — The Red Hot Chilli Peppers performed at Oracle Arena Sunday, the only stop on their tour in support of 2016 record The Getaway, was was released last June. The lone show followed three in Los Angeles, and we’re just speculating when we say that perhaps the band will return to play Outside Lands in August (the RHCP don’t have any shows scheduled that month).

The Getaway is the band’s 11th studio album, the first not produced by Rick Rubin. The RHCP are touring with drummer Jack Irons, who is the band’s original drummer and performed on stage all by himself, as well as New Orleans’ Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.

The Chili Pepper’s set included only four songs off The Getaway (“Dark Necessities,” “Go Robot,” “Goodbye Angels,” “The Getaway”). That’s as many as the covers they performed, with homages to Robert Johnson, Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone and Funkadelic. The older material included “Californication” and “Scar Tissue” off 1999’s Californication, and “Give It Away,” off 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which concluded the show.
