OAKLAND — Atlanta rapper Future stopped at Oakland Arena on Saturday on his One Big Party tour, and brought along a few of his friends. Don Toliver, G Herbo, P-Lo and Lil Jairmy each played a set before Future took the stage. The 11-city tour has crisscrossed the country, with Oakland picked as the only stop on the West Coast.

Over 40 songs, Future extensively covered many of the hits dating to his early mixtapes, including “March Madness,” “Fuck Up Some Commas” and “Married To The Game,” as well as newer material. He kicked off the show with “712 PM,” from his latest album, 2022’s I Never Liked You, next to a stage-sized silhouette of a woman’s body. There were continuous pyrotechnics and immense energy from the crowd for each beat drop.

Future wasn’t afraid to share the spotlight.

“There’s nobody that loves the Bay Area like I do,” said the rapper, sporting a black “Oakland USA” sweatshirt.

He proceeded to bring out a who’s-who of hometown heroes, including Oakland’s Mistah Fab to perform “N.E.W. Oakland,” D-Lo for “Get Her Tho,” Lil Kayla on “Make His Pockets Hurt,” and G-Eazy to perform “No Limit” and “1942.” Everyone seemed to pull out out a phone to capture his appearance.

Future continued on with more new songs like “Puffin On Zootiez” and “Love You Better.” He went through the dark stories of his past with songs like “Wicked,” from EP Purple Reign, one of his deepest, most profound raps about coming out of a rough breakup. It was followed by an intermission, during which rapper EST Gee performed hits off his 2020 project, I Still Dont Feel Nun, including “Get Money,” “Young Shiners” and “Special Remix.”

When Future returned, he got even more personal and performed “Loveeeeeee Song,” a collaboration with Rihanna, and other melodic love tracks like “Wait For U” and “Love You Better.”

Future ended the show with a bang, literally, with a lineup of fireworks and other pyro to street anthems “Mask Off” and his viral collaboration with Metro Boomin, “Superhero (Heroes & Villains),” off the producer’s album, on which Future and Don Toliver worked.

Don Toliver

Houston native Don Toliver, who just released his latest album, Love Sick, came out with huge energy and lit up phones around the entire arena. As the lights dimmed, he came out to Heroes & Villains cut “I Can’t Save You (Interlude), where the crowd went wild with excitement and created several mosh pits. Performing with the help of melodic voice modulation, Don Toliver was backed by an electric guitarist and keyboardist.

On his new song, he blended R&B with trap percussion while prancing around in a custom bright-blue Needles blazer and dress shorts. Don Toliver performed new hits like “Embarrassed,” “Private Landing” and “Too Many Nights.” He also read the crowd well by picking a great list of features to perform, including SZA’s “Used” and NAV’s “Recap,” and later closed out with hits “No Idea” and “After Party.”

G Herbo

Chicago rapper G Herbo started his set with “Aye,” off of 2022’s Survivor’s Remorse, and followed up with songs like “Ridin Wit It,” “Sessions” and “I Like.” With multiple diamond chains swaying back and forth, G Herbo had great stage energy and performed. At one point he even had his girlfriend, Taina, come out on stage, and led the crowd in a round of happy birthday to her. He followed that up by taking a shot and performing Lil Blessin’s “Likka Sto.”

Herbo reminded the crowd that he’s from 79th Street in Chicago and that he’s a gangster rapper, before transitioning to his collaboration with Nardo Wick’s “Who Want Smoke??”

Oakland’s Offset Jim came out to perform his track “No Pressure” and later brought out San Francisco’s Lil Yee for “Why Would I Lack.” Many of the evening’s performers were on stage throughout the night, documenting the hometown vibe on their phones.

P-Lo

P-Lo, performing earlier in the evening, came out to collaborator Kool John’s “Bitch, I Look Good,” to deafening screams. He performed tracks off his latest project, STUNNA, including “Again” and “Good” and “Same Squad” (the latter of which had an a capella intro) and transitioning to “Put Me On Somethin’.”

Also on stage at the beginning of the night, Lil Jairmy ran to the stage sporting multiple layers of diamonds. The Houston up-and-comer didn’t disappoint with songs like “AntiSocial” and “No Luggage.” He dedicated his set to the late rapper Lil Keed while rapping “Can’t Dress Me,” their 2022 collaboration.

Rapper Klondlike Blonde kicked off the show with songs like “Drip,” “No Smoke” and “Put It On Me.”
