MOUNTAIN VIEW — Brad Paisley recently hit the road for his 2019 world tour, his first international run in two years. RIFF caught his Bay Area performance at Shoreline Amphitheatre on Friday night.

The 2019 world tour feels like a grand return for the country superstar since he and his wife spent the latter part of last year opening up The Store—a referral-based grocery in Nashville where families in need shop for free. A portion of all ticket sales from the concert went to the organization. But Paisley still managed to keep the ball rolling musically during that time, releasing singles “Bucked Off” last November and “My Miracle” earlier this year.

These things are part of what make Paisley continue to be a luminary of contemporary country. On top of that, he released the genre’s first-ever visual album with his last studio record, 2017’s Love and WarThe album also demonstrated Paisley’s ability to create yet another chart-topping masterpiece full of diverse lyrical imagery and striking guitar riffage.

The new singles from the upcoming album look to follow suit. The honky tonk “Bucked Off” depicts a whirlwind of a fling while the bluesy “My Miracle” combines spirituality with a heartwarming look at Paisley’s marriage. Paisley’s set at Shoreline was both thrilling and touching—an invitation for fans to live out his stories and connect them to their own. Several times he played right to fans, who rushed the barricade to take selfies with the country superstar. Highlights include the rootsy “This is Country Music.” Check out the video of the song below.

Country singer-songwriters Chris Lane and Riley Green were the concert openers.
