Three years have passed since Brooke Waggoner released “Go Easy Little Doves.” In the interim, she toured with Jack White’s all-girl band, the Peacocks, and produced albums for other artists. The singer-pianist’s third album, “Originator” will be released March 5.

Waggoner recorded “Originator” in her hometown of Nashville using only analog equipment, without any computers. The album is neatly divided in the middle. The first six tracks, such as highlights “Ink Slinger” and “Perish,” lean toward upbeat pop. The last five are not only orchestral, but classical in nature. And ethereal choir marks at the tail end of the latter song marks the transition between the two halves. The one issue I had with the album is that the second half feels like filler, with the best down-tempo tunes also placed in the first half.

The better of these two is “From the Nest,” which Waggoner described as being about “getting our fingers dirty in relationships.”

A tour will be announced soon, according to SKH Music.

Listen: “Rumble” and “Ink Slinger”
